China’s Ping An – exploring ecosystems
I’m delighted that our latest case (with Professor Mark Greeven, Jui An Yang and Wei Wei) – The Role of Ping An Technology in Enabling Ping An Group’s Digital Ecosystem – is now available at the Case Centre. A Teaching note will be published shortly and then the case will also be available through Harvard Case Publishing.
It’s a fascinating case that charts how Ping An, a Chinese insurance company, has developed into a leading technology and ecosystem player by creating Ping An Technology. There is some important learning about whether you create digital transformation through a separate unit and when to bring it back into the businesses and how you create ecosystems. Ping An is now facing the challenge of what to do with Ping An Technology.
